HESI Emerging Issues Process
The Emerging Issues process provides a mechanism to assist HESI in identifying emerging scientific issues related to human health and environmental safety of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and consumer products. Topics of potential interest are identified through an annual survey of the corporate membership and key contacts in academia, government and the public sector. Emphasis is placed on ensuring international input to this process from a broad range of sectors. Topics are prioritized in the first quarter of each year and exploratory meetings held to determine the interest in and potential scope of activities. If warranted, an Emerging Issues Subcommittee is established to propose and develop a program of scientific activities. Detailed information on these subcommittees can be found by clicking on the subcommittee name.
Project Committees and Technical Committees
The HESI Board of Trustees approves the formation of Technical Committees and Project Committees. These committees typically evolve from Emerging Issues Subcommittees, and may support scientific research as well as sponsor symposia and workshops at which current scientific developments are presented and discussed. Detailed information on these committees can be found by clicking on the committee.
